The APRSfl.net system receives data 24 hours a day via the Emergency Managers
Weather Information Network (EMWIN)
system via satellite transmission on GOES12. For reception we use
a Zephyrus WX-13 earth station running
Weather Message
(WxMesg) emwin data processing software.
A Unidata LDM derived IDS &
DDS product feed from
NOAAPORT and a
WeatherWire
internet stream are also used as a source of products to give us multiple layers
of redundancy.
If you are interested in a internet based EMWIN warning system of your own,
you'll first need to download a EMWIN software package such as Real EMWIN, Weather
Message, or Interwarn and then connect to our public ByteBlaster server. The
national feed (9600bps) is available at wxmsg.aprsfl.net port 1000.
Locations in West Central Florida within 25-30 miles of St Pete can also pickup
the St Pete Times 1200bps VHF local rebroadcast of EMWIN data. You need a VHF
receiver capable of receiving 139.210mhz, a demodulator, and EMWIN software. Full information
is on the St Pete Times website.
If you are a LDM user looking for our PQinserted LDM product feed of the EMWIN
data stream off GOES12, just contact us
with the IP address of your LDM server.
